Short Biography
Andreas Löcken received his B. Sc. and M. Sc. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Oldenburg in Germany and defended his dissertation in 2019. His thesis was on the topic of designing and evaluating in-vehicle ambient light displays to support drivers. He explored the designs for such displays with prototypes at different levels of fidelity and in driving simulator studies. He published more than 20 papers on the subject at international conferences. His academic career also includes the co-organization of the AutomotiveUI conference, two international workshops, and one international tutorial. His teaching experience includes supporting several HCI-related courses at B. Sc. and M. Sc. levels and the co-supervision of six bachelor theses.
He joined the HCI group of Prof. Andreas Riener at the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt in July 2018. He has a keen interest in Human-Computer Interaction and User Experience in socio-technical safety-critical systems. He currently investigates the interaction between humans and automated vehicles. Specifically, he focuses on vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians or cyclists, and the passengers of the self-driving car. Within the scope of the two-year project “SAVe,” he explores and evaluates interaction concepts in virtual reality and real-life.
